thrd replicator

Interesting piece in the nytimes today.

It occurs to me that her conclusion equates information with life.

Life, the living part, is pure language.

But anyone who's been around knows that talk is just bullshit.

The internet is a self perpetuating talk machine.

Let's not use darwin, let's use Hegel.

what makes the internet special ( and i agree with the mechanisms she uses to describe it) is it's ability to communicate within itself, to pick up on the patterns of communication.

there are organelles and there are conduits.

Scenario:
a web page. thesis

a curious user.

sees a web page.

has thoughts about webpage. antithesis

views a related website. synthesis

The query that occurs to me is what is the good end.

If the internet could examine itself for contradiction, without regard to evaluating the truth value of information, creating spam and scholarly articles the same way, I wonder what beliefs would be left.

Would we its own algorithms be left standing?

Can we see it all at once?

I believe that the internet is not a living organism, but a tool for prayer on the planet.

There are those who pray for evil things.  There are those who pray simply to drown out the others.  We are discovering what it is we need.

We always knew there were two internets, at least.
