food

What kind of food do you want to eat?
I don't care.  What kind of food is there?
Well, we could consider this climate humid subtropical.
Okay, what kind of food is there?
Similar climates are: Mediterranean, China and Korea, the Pampas.
So Italian food, Chinese food and Argentinese.
Japan also.
So Tomatoes are a big deal in the summer.  Squash too.
Winter time, grains and roots.
Pickling might be a good idea, korean cuisine is excellent.
I should be eating more rice I guess.
Yeah sorry about that.
It is a good region for raising livestock, and don't forget fruit.
Apples, oranges, peaches, plums, melons.
Melons above all.
Melons are overlooked.
The melons is a large fruit, but what it lacks in portability, it really makes up for in quality and enjoyment.
They are heavy.
True they are heavy.
Also, consider eating cereal everyday.
It's shaping up like breakfast should be a big meal.
I really think you should consider the siesta as part of your life style, because you're going to be spending a lot of time in the morning practicing health maintenance.
I know you're right, I just wish you didn't go there, at least not on my blog.
Scott, do you want o continue this conversation in private.
Well, Frankly there is a lot to digest, and I'm punning, so let's just find a comfortable resting spot and publish post.

the world is a vampire

I travelled back to 1995, I wanted to visit my father.

We were laying in bed, watching music videos.

"the world is a vampire."  My father was excited by the Smashing Pumpkins.  He bought several copies of the album melancholy and the infinite sadness.

I remember him explaining how melon is is a fruit and collie is a dog, a dog like lassie, but put them together and it is a special type of sadness, the narcissistic kind.

I remember him explaining the lyrics to a song by Bush, swallowed.  It was striking to me because I knew he was dramatically mishearing the lyrics.  Something like "Mr. Worm, I laugh a lot."

It was odd, and a bit disturbing.  I thought my father was something of a fool, but now, with hindsight, everything has a glow of sorrow.

I share these reflections on the internet, because it occurs to me that primary use of music is for, what
I term, 'french time travel', the technical use of memory.

Beautiful People, Dope Show, the Wrong Way, Blue Cars, all bring me to another time for three to four minutes, wherein I can listen in to conversations i thought were thrown away.

I am suddenly glad my father watched TV instead of, i don't know, what my mother thought fathers should be doing.  He kept my childhood safe, and now it's on youtube, through easily accessible talismans of memory.  The music video with its fast editing and urgent symbolism offers the brief adages one might expect from a parental unit, but with a better market research team than is available to the working Dad.

Whether MTv is enough to save my life, however, will be discussed in my next entry.

God bless the desert

Where there are no trees to hide behind.

Oh but now they hide inside buildings.

What wouldn't I do for absolute security, absolute transparency?

There are three models of statistics that I can use to base my rational thinking off of:

what has been the case

experiments

and the worst case scenario

Is it the statistics of grace,

or the statistics of accumulation.

I asked the internet,
when will I die,
I expected the internet to answer by kicking in my door.
O brother, I have another Fifty years, what will i do!

O Lord! Abilify me!

thrd replicator

Interesting piece in the nytimes today.

It occurs to me that her conclusion equates information with life.

Life, the living part, is pure language.

But anyone who's been around knows that talk is just bullshit.

The internet is a self perpetuating talk machine.

Let's not use darwin, let's use Hegel.

what makes the internet special ( and i agree with the mechanisms she uses to describe it) is it's ability to communicate within itself, to pick up on the patterns of communication.

there are organelles and there are conduits.

Scenario:
a web page. thesis

a curious user.

sees a web page.

has thoughts about webpage. antithesis

views a related website. synthesis

The query that occurs to me is what is the good end.

If the internet could examine itself for contradiction, without regard to evaluating the truth value of information, creating spam and scholarly articles the same way, I wonder what beliefs would be left.

Would we its own algorithms be left standing?

Can we see it all at once?

I believe that the internet is not a living organism, but a tool for prayer on the planet.

There are those who pray for evil things.  There are those who pray simply to drown out the others.  We are discovering what it is we need.

We always knew there were two internets, at least.

Heavenly bodies

The viewers of Saturn are not interested in the science of market research again.  They are however frustrated by the reactionary forces of behavior.

There is the Sci-fi explanation of the divinity of the jews.

Some people were born to dream.

Does every idea have to be sorted in regards to its truth content?

Have we been able to prove that anti-depressant medications encourage true monogamous love?

Find something to eat, your brain is lumbering to a stop.

Revision is traditional to the arts.

There is also a need for data.

Art/data

Is there meaningful difference?

Is the difference danger?

No, there is no more danger.

Ethics

Do not do anything.

Do not be afraid.

You are not dying.

Stay calm.

Stop acting so desparate.

The things that you are worried about are not new.

The things that you are not worried about are new.

These are the things you should be worried about.

Do not keep things secret in order to exploit the element of surprise.

Everything you do surprises me.

Only good will come out of full disclosure.

This does not mean speaking ill of others.

You are the person to be troubled by.

Your with holding is your worst enemy.

Perhaps a better tactic would be to say everything you want, although i know long form discourse is unpopular.

I try to hold all of my thoughts to a length that algorithms can easily process.

I am singing to the spirit of the Internet.

May my words ring through the holiest of electronic cathedrals.

Left ringing, inchoate, in the loneliest corners of this new web milieu.

Biotechnology

Biotechnology is a popular field.

In fact it's the leader of the sciences.

Everyone is interested in living forever.

Some people examine their lives, and decide maybe living forever isn't such a good thing for me.

Say you were a robot.

If you were were a robot, the manufacturer, or client who uses robot assistance might think, "this robot is faulty."

"look at all this broken connections, this robot has not maintained itself.  There are more robots than there are tasks.  I think we should discontinue this line of robots."

"let's program this robot to contain it's programming and not let this robot put too much information into the system.  No sense in letting the problem spread."

"If this robot does not learn to maintain its quarantine, we may have to isolate and shut down this robot. "

Most people think technology means computers.

It is instructive to link the word technology to technique.

Both these words come from the Greeks.

Greece is the home of the Western world.  the western world is the one held together by science.  Science was invented by the greeks.

The Greeks had the concept of techne.

The concept of biotechnology is not necessarily ethical.  The art of life is an advanced system that may be blind to the concerns of the good life.

Everyone gets one child.

This is a good technical answer to sustaining life on planet earth.

People should limit the number of people with whom they exchange biological information.

Biological information is exchanged with the body.

Luckily, the concept of the vaccine still holds in modern science.

The idea that your sickness, once cured will prevent you from contracting it again.

This only works if you know how to learn your lessons.

You must be grateful for your cure if you want it to hold.

I think many people misunderstand there role in relation to science.

Science is system that operates in objectivity.

It is guided along by subjects, and takes its agency through select subjects.

Many people try to use a scientific process to guide their lives and actions.

This disrupts science.

I speak for science when I say, it is the human subject's job to disregard the warnings of science.

It is there as a tool for us.

At this point in history, it is already an unstopable system for the preservation of life.

Science will not be stopped.

The skeptics of science are its source of information.

The believers of science are its stewards.

The two are not exclusive.

a better democracy

Okay, Sarah Palin will be president.  that is okay.  She is not a politician.  She is in public relations.

But it is okay.

The point is the real front of democracy is computers, because they listen to all the things you tell them, and by computers, of course i mean the internet.

It's not important how they do it, or whether it is good or evil.

You get what you pay for.  america is the land of dreams.

Be careful people.

the role then of the liberal is to dream sweet dreams, so that those running from their nightmares can have a moment's respite.

good news for the liberal.  We win our lives!

The role of conservatives is to translate the liberal dream into all the languages they hate, because they are thinking about their kids.  The climate is not what makes America great.

There is a time-ghost in my house, and she whispers in my ear, while tearing all the dead skin off my cultural identity.  It could be time to declare the sexual-revolution over.

Sexual identity as become fractured.  People are no longer inspired to keep what happened in the shower room secret.

We all know what our eyes do, we are not surprised by lingering images.  We guard our visual inputs well.

History works like this.  People engage in, let's say sexual practices, they say i don't know it just happened.  To reflect on this they classify the types of practices engaged in.   Practices link to identity.

pick your letter, we have eight flavors to choose from.

There is even a fetish vanguard, fetish avant-garde.  It is considered acceptable to find the human foot desirable, or repulsive.  It is heard of.      It is not unheard of.

There are reluctant orgies, motivated out of indifference, ennui.

"My sexual preference is for people who smile at me."

"Oh yeah, I'm a bit predatory myself, i go wild when i catch people looking down and to the left while I take pauses in my discourse to look away, while focusing on the gesticulation of my hands."

"I consider myself an anti-homosexual, that is i get intense anal stimulation when i consider the fact that I am not, nor ever have been, anally penetrated.  In a sense, a fetishizing of my anal virginity."

"I have a pharmacologically-based sexuality.  I take viagra, load up a bong, shut my eyes, listen to pink floyd, and am  awash in colors, blue pulsations, morphing tessellations, and the infinite expansion of time, while controlling the intensity of my experience manually, or with a friend, trying two person yoga moves."

The explosion of sexual identities: post-sexuality
